Excellent used book. Shows a good deal of the dolls that were produced during this time. Includes a body pattern for the 23 inch china head which can be scaled up or down. Includes a good look at how dolls were made, clothes, etc. Many came in kits and grandma put together with fabrics available to them...mattress ticking, flour sacking bodies. Leather hands and feet from glove leather etc. Clothes were often made of Suzies dress scrapes or mama's etc. Those that came already made came with often china feet and or hands. Some came with leather feet. The were dressed in period clothing, with drawers, petticoats, camosals, dresses or skirts and appropriate tops. Some came in velvets and silks, and fancy underpendings while others were dressed in silk scraps if available. There was a lot of variety in costuming and doll body design depending on who was a seamstress or not. Overall an excellent book for the china doll collector or those wanting to know more information about grandma and great grandma's doll era. Wonderful pictures throughout showing many many dolls. Lovely book. Well worth its value. Recommend it highly.
