The Plainsman ols660b

Scale:  1/12th. Materials:  Hand-painted bronze. Mark: 660-B. Year of Issue: 1981, 1982 and 1985.

HISTORY: The first figurine of the Americana Series, this is Bob's first, natural, unpainted bronze.  The studio wanted a series that would reflect American lifestyle.  The idea came from a book about Western bronzes.

ABOUT BRONZES:  After the bronze has come from the mold and has been smoothed, an antique finish is applied.  Then, selected hand-buffing is performed to provide the desired effect.  Bob had never antiqued a bronze, so he visited a local lamp manufacturer, who showed him how.

GENERAL:  While carving, Bob had difficulty visualizing the finished piece.  He was accustomed to translating his green carving wax into color, but he had never done a bronze before and didn't quite know what to expect.

The texture on this figurine is outstanding.  Notice how the details of the carved texture on almost all the surfaces cast out well.  Look at the muscular structure of both figures and the hair on the back of the buffalo.

This was Bob's first bronze, and he grew to love them.  He hopes the collector will take the time to become familiar with them to discover and appreciate their natural beauty.

This one is in great condition but has no box. It is marked Goebel and has the butterfly stamp. Year 81 and item number 660B.
