Don Cnossen

Born Donald Everett Cnossen on November 24th, 1918 in Massachusetts. Don's curiosity in miniatures was fueled by his mother's love of miniatures when she purchased and furnished a dollhouse with 1/10th scale furniture. While he does not specialize in any one particular period, his collection includes various time periods and is mostly Shaker style reproductions. He began creating these pieces of furniture as a hobby in his house while he was working for Honeywell and has been featured in numerous periodicals and newspaper items. He is known nationally by miniature enthusiasts and highly respected for his precise recreations. He and his wife Ruth would attend miniature shows and sell their pieces in miniature trade mail order magazines. His furniture was previously made with cherry, pine, maple, and mahogany woods, however now he works with just cherry and mahogany. All the pieces have hinges and small drawers that work as the original sized piece. We are proud to carry Don's fine shaker furniture at Miniature Cottage.
